Hi Guys

I'm Sean and based in Surrey. I own and drive a Fiesta ST2 and one gorgeous speedy 1.8td transit connect!

I personally don't own a Z3.... You're thinking why are you here? I thought I would sign up after meeting 2 lovely forum members tonight and thought I'd sign up and see what the z3 love is all about.

I run a detailing business in Surrey and have worked with a forum member to export a Z3 to Canada. Now I'm currently working on a new Z3 for him and joining to seek advise as I have a few tasks to complete before shipping.... and at the same time offer Detailing and Valeting tips in return to anyone that seeks it. I won't be selling or offering services just some friendly advise and tips :)

Thanks for reading and I'll throw up a project page once I have all the new car parts here ready to start the surgery!

Thanks
Sean

Yes I am the guilty party! FYI Sean was one of three valet services recommended by Chris from our own forum at Summit Detailing. After emailing with Sean he sounded like the man for the job. His effort in decontaminating my first car saved me time and $$ with Canada Revenue. When I bought the second car Sean was there to offer his services again plus perform some other things that needed attending to. He advises me on what I need to shop for and as he is also an accomplished Auto Tech I value his input. He is doing this for a complete stranger, spending his off time to assist me and I will never be able to thank him enough. Welcome Sean, hopefully we'll get that chance to hoist a few together sooner than later. JIM

Welcome Sean, we've heard nothing but good things of you!

A sneaky plug of your services here and there won't be a problem as far as I'm concerned! Glad to have professionals drop by and offer wisdom, it's only fair you get a little something back for your time...

Cheers, Gary.

Hi Sean
I live in Walton on Thames, Surrey and own a Z3 Orinico SE. It's in great nick but being 19 years old the paintwork has swirls, minor scratches, scuffs and of course a few stone chips. My question is.... Is it worth investing in a DA polisher? I am very practical so I am confident that I can use the machine correctly and there are two other cars in the household that could benefit from a paintwork refurb.
Look forward to your reply.
Welcome to the forum by the way.
Regards
Mike (MM)

Wow, thank you all for the warm welcome. This is by far the friendliest forum i've been on to date!

I'm looking forward to get stuck into this Z3, it has a lot of potential and i know Jim will be delighted when he gets it! Maybe i will get one one day for a little track day car, who knows ;)

Do we have a dedicated valeting/detailing section on the forum? i'm happy to answer any questions in a specific thread if there is. Also if anyone wants anything specific message me. What i'll do is update my blog on my website with some useful tips that others may find useful. I sometimes get a creative block when writing them so it's a spur of the moment sort of blog post at the moment due to being extremely busy with work.

Mike of course you can, some detailers would say no don't do it as you'll only **** it up. In all honesty we all started somewhere. The first ever car i polished was a 1994 Punto as i bought it for £100 to repair and sell. What i would do is invest in a good polisher, pads and polish combo and give it a bash. The good thing with a DA is that its not likely to burn through paint unless you've got the speed wacked up and you're pressing hard enough in the same area for a long time to generate heat which will burn straight through. What i find is beginners don't take their time in polishing and just do a 1 stage quick polish over the car. The results look good in the right light but you'll find the car has a lot of machine marring, holograms and typically more swirls added into the paint during the process. I could chat about it for hours, happy to give some advise and point you in the right place for products if needed. Once you have the bug its impossible to get rid of it and don't blame me :D

Thanks
Sean
