Someone fairly local selling a Foxwell nt500 at a decent price but it is for VW models. How much does it cost to change to BMW please? Anyone?

Tony.

Around £50 Tony

You have to register it with Foxwell then you will be able to add additional manufacturers. If the current owner has already registered it you may need to check if you can do it again

Is it a dedicated VAG scanner i.e not capable of loading other makes? I'm looking at getting a NT530 which can be loaded with any make but comes with preloaded BMW software option at around £143. Trouble is they do so many types. My thoughts are what does the NT530 do that cheaper 'all make vehicle' foxwell scanners can't do. No UK phone numbers to ask the question.

I bought my Foxwell because I could not find another scanner that would read all the modules on both of my two prefacelift 2.8's. A few members on here say they use other scanners but they don't work on my cars.

My Foxwell works great and I feel well worth the money I paid.

@Jack Ratt are you able to activate the abs if required for bleeding brakes with your scanner?

It reads the ABS as it can identify wheel speed sensor faults but I'm not sure what other functions it can perform. There is a customer services contact facility on the Foxwell website which is in China however their English is good and there is a time delay for their response. There is a UK company selling Foxwell stuff and they do offer full technical backup but only if you buy your scanner from them. It will cost you over £200 from UK distributor though.

When I bought mine it was delivered with GM installed and not BMW as I had ordered. I was told to register it on the Foxwell website and then connect to pc via usb lead. They remotely took the GM programme off and replaced it with BMW. Prior to this I contacted the UK supplier but they wouldn't help me as I didn't buy it from them.

How wrong can you be? thought this thread was about a Scottish driving route!

The NT530 can activate various individual components including the ABS pump for bleeding purposes I think I'm correct in saying. Currently the NT530 is on offer at £133 plus £14 odd for the 20 pin connector. Think I'm going to buy one, @Murray Wall bought one but when I asked him what he thought of it he hadn't really tried it. It seems the 530 is the one to have for BMW, the 650 model I was looking at although does lots of makes only performs specific functions it seems. The Foxwell range is bewildering but it seems the 530 is the one to have, try reading the questions asked on their American site and it seems to confirm the 530 best suited.

I have the NT520, I understand it's now discontinued and is replaced with the NT530 however Foxwell told me that my NT520 has the same BMW programme as the NT530.
I also get free BMW updates as and when they are published.

Just bought a NT530 on the last day of the offer, £133 from Foxwell UK ($169 on yank site so the same bar a pound or two) Knowing my luck they'll be cheaper tomorrow! What did you get Tony?

The answer? Don’t Do It @t-tony ! Sounds like a better option getting one yourself.

Gone back up to £148 :)

I bought an NT530 from obdexpress.co.uk, it cost me 166euro, so far,it works everything well, but 166euro is more expensive than other website?

The NT500 I bought I took a chance on hoping I could buy software for it. I email Foxwell here in the UK and in China and didn't receive 1 reply.
I sold it on and made £5 profit so I didn't get my fingers burned.
I put that towards a new NT530.

Tony.
