16th October 2016 10am at Ross on Wye
Well I said I'd do it and regretted it as soon as I did, but there seems to be a bit of interest so here goes, lets see how much!
My local areas of the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley are absolutely stunning in the Autumn especially if you get a sunny day, but folks there's the rub! it can also be quite dank and miserable if its raining so ... this will be a weather lottery as to whether this turns out to be a good roof down day out or a damp squid.
LAST EDIT
OK folks here's the final details of the run on the 16th.
Due to a road closure in the Wye Valley we will not be continuing to Chepstow from Tintern but back tracking up the Valley and directly into the Forrest.
Please can everyone try and get to the meeting point by 10am (Starbucks Ross-on-Wye HR9 7QJ best to enter Starbucks Ross on your SatNag than using the post code).
For those of you who would like the route on your SatNag follow the link below to MotoGoLoco (an excellent site for anyone organising a run) this will take you direct to my saved route;

I have it on good authority from my guinea pig Mr. Gunter, that this will work.
I will also be handing out written instructions of the route with photos of all the turns and junctions.
Tintern Abbey;
This is the first stop, I have arranged for the Anchor Hotel to be available for teas / coffees and cakes etc. Parking here is pay and display at £3, I have it on very good authority that it is not policed (but I am not in any way condoning not paying ) however if you pay and retain the top part of your ticket and produce it in the Anchor it be be taken off your bill. (instructions are on the pay machines)
Entry into the Abbey for those interested;
Adult £6
Seniors £ 4.20
CADW members Free
English Heritage Members Free or half price depending on membership level (check your membership card)
Next stop is lunch at the George Inn at St Briavels, parking here is an issue but there is a circular road around the castle with parking spaces plus a very small car park at the pub, sorry folks I didn't really think about this (and didn't expect such a response to the run TBH) but its going to be a case of park where you can (sorry). For those of you that have pre-ordered and sent your deposits (thank you) please pay the remainder at the bar before leaving. For those that haven't pre-ordered feel free to order off the menu if you desire.
The revised run is 86 miles 2hrs 45mins excluding stops, so a full day but I am aware that we like to natter and I doubt we will have time to complete the whole run so there is a short cut from St Briavels to Ross via Monmouth that is quick, but will include a 10 mile dual carriageway run for those heading that way, also handy for those heading back into Wales on the A40.
Well I have done my best to arrange all that is needed so all I can hope now is you all enjoy the day.
PS Can someone please remember to bring some sun shine along
