Fog Light buttons

Hi there,

I was innocently pushing a few buttons over the weekend and generally getting a feel for my Z3. When I pushed the rear fig light switch it decided it didn't want to switch off.

Can anyone give me some advice on what I could do to release the button. Or where I could find a replacement?

The rear fogs are currently stuck on when I switch the lights on so I'll need to get it sorted.

Cheers,

Chris

If you need a new button anyway pull it out and disconnect the block.

PM me and I can sort you out with a switch for a modest amount :)

Brilliant thanks will do.

This is going to sound daft but I'm new to this stuff .... are they easy to remove and replace?

Its probably just stuck through lack of use, unlikely to be worn out. Suggest spray some electrical cleaner in it.

We often get cars in for M.O.T. that when you press the hazard light switch it either won't work or sticks "on". Usually some furious prodding on and off makes it work. It's just through lack of use as most people never use their hazards and the same applies to rear fog lights.

On one of my old Alhambras the cup holders were directly above the air con panel. I put a McDonalds cup in there one day and it leaked coke on to the panel. The next day the buttons were jamming down where the coke had got in and gunged it up. Fortunately it was a company car and it was fixed for me.

I had a similar problem last year, just doing a last minute check of the lights before the MOT and the rear fog lights didn't work. that was the switch, went over to see Spurs Fan and we had to try two before we found one that one worked.
Three things only get used once a year for the MOT, fog lights, horn and hazards.

I had a similar problem, there are two rockers at the back of the switch with very small springs, I lubed mine and they are working perfectly now, I also had similar problem with mt dash dimmer, electric lube also sorted that.

I think what I need to do is not push random buttons lol.

Thanks everyone it's great to know I've got somewhere to come and get some sound advice. I'm going to need it :)

Serves you right for A: Going to McDonalds and B: Drinking Coke.....;)
And on a serious note, I am all for people not using mobile phones while driving but what about eating & drinking while driving?

Mine did it the very first day I took it. I solved it with WD40 and a toothbrush.

Hi All, I now have this issue - can the buttons be 'levered out' or is there a some fixings holding it in? Dont want to go ruining some 25 year old plastic if a screw is holding it in!! Thanks

Are they not part and parcel of the main light switch? If so there is a mechanical fixing.

Tony.
