Wipe over with an oily rag would see that back to new. 😁

All possible but I would question if that would be an economic repair tbh.

Thanks for the quick reply. Figured it would buff out!

Any ideas on how and cost/time in the UK?

You’d need to cut and weld new pieces of inner sill in..that sill is pretty thick steel so if that has gone the rest is likely to be in a state too. Unless is has some sentimental attachment I would walk.

The sills are not available from bmw anymore so they would have to be fabricated. If both sides are like that and the front corners aswell, you' be looking around 2 grand for the repair plus paint

Thanks for the responses.

All four corners are really bad and the rust does back into the floor in places. It's a shame, I knew rust in this area was a weak spot but didn't quite expect that!

What is the appetite for parting these cars out?

A strong but niche market for second hand parts. Condition is everything. Supply is quite high as lots of these cars are coming to the end of their natural life. I think you’d struggle to sell any of the body panels on yours if the sills are an indicator. Interior would sell again depending on condition.
