seeing the current post on first Z recalls our first Z
My son ( no youngster ) decided he liked a Z3 , so as he was very busy in work it was left to me to sort a few option out.
Now we knew nothing about a Z3 , although I have had BMW,s for many years. Found 4 that looked interesting,so set of on a Saturday morning to view them , over an area from North Manchester down to Walsall. First stop was a dealer in the countryside near Knutsford, worked from his home and all by appointment as cars kept elsewhere.
The car both looked ( car was parked up in centre of a nice drive area )and ran very nicely, in fact that so impressed that made the decision to get it. Dealer had only advertised it previous day , and had claimed quite a lot of interest. It had had 7 previous owners that rather concerned us, and some history.
It had just had new discs and pads fitted along with a new side light. He had changed the number plates as previous ones were not legal spacing's. First car I have bought that we paid the asking price [ which was comparable with the other intended viewings] ,no movement on his part , absolutely no pressure to sell. I do believe had other buyers in the wings.
The car is a 2.2 sport.-----over the next year we found that not all Z3 are sports, also found out they do not all have the Split Rims, the interior and exterior chrome packs, the sports heated seats, computer etc.
Had to sort out tyres they were a real mixed bunch, but rest of car very good.
That was 5 years ago , couple of years ago ownership transferred over to me ----son went for a CooperS.
Never regretted the purchase, only used as a second car by my son or third car by me buts its fantastic.
,so to those looking to buy , I really hope you were are lucky as us, but be sensible and find out model differences first.
p.s. its defiantly a keeper.
