Hello Mint,
Thanks for the welcome.
I did read that thread from gookah, however none of the photos were showing up, just red crosses so it was a little tricky to follow.
I have tried to rectify the photos but the site won't let me upload to this thread without giving a security error.
I will have to start a new thread sometime.

Had a good look at videos & other write ups. I think, with the photos, yours would be the easiest to follow if someone was going to attempt it themselves.

Hi and welcome from me in Rochdale another Z4 E85 owner. I have had my motor relocated a couple of months ago. Unfortunately no where near you. Cost me £125.

Hi and welcome from Warwickshire.

I had my roof motor moved at Tony's place last year. There are some places that remove the entire roof to access the roof motor down behind the rear panel. However, it can be done by someone who is willing to climb into the boot and in a rather contorted position reach over the inside panel and work blind. Being left handed also helps.

I too recall someone from down the south east but can't remember where I saw that post. Prices vary - We got a bulk rate but anywhere between £120-£200 is good value. The cost to remove the whole roof is in excess of £600.

The motors tend to fail due to water causing corrosion - this can be rectified and the motor bought back to life with a little attention. Paying for a replacement is generally not needed. The other common mode of failure is the loss of fluid over time. Simply needs a top-up. If you can hear the motor running, this is likely to be the cause.

Good luck with the fix.

BTW - I'll be the first to ask - photos of your car are mandatory
We all love seeing photos of all the cars, irrespective of sate of health and condition.

Thanks for all the info Redline.
Actually thanks to Tony I've got Bowser relocating mine this Sat am, for an extremely reasonable price. So looking forward to that.

Re the photos, surely no one wants to see photos of a 2ltr Z4 lol

Thanks for the info Mark,
Tony already pointed me in his direction, & he's actually relocating it this Saturday morning. I believe he is just off the M3. Looking forward to getting it done.

Afternoon all,
Newbie here.
Great forum, have been lurking for a few days enjoying discovering the Z4 world, informative advice & (some of the time) above average level of banter.
Picked up my 2005 2.0 Z4 Saturday & I'm loving it.... a little bit too much probably.

I'm know this has been discussed numerous times on the forum & I have searched different threads..... however..... first job is to relocate the ever so poorly placed roof motor (what were they thinking!). It stopped working this morning after struggling for a few days. Was working perfectly during viewing, so just bad luck I guess?
I'm based in Chelmsford Essex, would be great to find someone local, however, I am more than willing to travel for an hour or so to someone who can relocate & fix for a reasonable price. Could be a great excuse to give the Z4 a good run out.
Asked my local BMW dealer and my heart has only just recovered, the shock has probably knocked at least 30 minutes off my life.

Thanks in advance if someone can help.
Hi, Bowser done mine today, £175 and moved to boot with a lovely fit, lovely guy would highly recommend.
