First time the car has been on the road

What could be better sun out, roof down wind in your hair

Checked all the fluids, tyre pressures, filled her up with E5 gave her a polish and ready to roll

On our 100mile outing we encountered
Sticky steering after about 30 miles
ABS, Traction Control & Air bag lights came on halfway through the journey
Then the roof decided it would not go back up once we got home
Last but not least the screen washer pump decided it had enough as well and stopped working

The joys!

Ah you see the missus has other ideas she wants the 4 ton of shingle we have in the back garden moved to the front, lay a new patio, cut the grass, rotavate the ground so she can go out planting and then and ONLY then if the back has survived I will be granted permission to fix the Z4 ....which is technically her car.

Reading that back I'm being stitched up lol who said it was a mans world were lying =))

A quick question I have been reading about motor pump failure and sensors

Most say theirs unclip from the front screen then refuses to move. Mine will not even do that. I will have a look at the following later

Fuses
Sensor in the back for parcel shelve is in the right position and the shelf engages in the track

Is there anything else to look at?

TBF we are driving to the Lake District next month so may drop it off to Zedshed for a week for motor relocate and a full service but be nice to be able to solve the issue if I can

It is as they are a fun little car to drive but the z4 has been good as gold for the last 2.5 years where as the Z3 (still in pieces just lost the heart to carry on with it anymore) was "drive = more lights = more money" I used to laugh with the missus and say we will take the BMW (Bring My Wallet) Z3 today

My missus knows and just looks at it and says will you ever finish it? Problem was it was finished then some cowboy sprayed it, totally wrecked the paintwork so took all those panels off bought other panels and started all over again. One day it will get finished....maybe lol

Been playing around with the roof for the last hour and have now go it to work
It was coming up with some errors like
21 Switch cowl panel unlocked undefined voltage rating
24 Switch Convertible top stowed undefined voltage range
43 Drive cowl Panel open circuit

No idea what these mean however I could hear the motor running and the roof would fold so far and stop. I then realised the rear parcel shelf was not dropping and therefore would not allow the roof to fold down. I think this is where the problem lies so its not too bad

The other codes
9895 seat occupancy detector passenger communication fault. Had this on other BMWs and bought a bit off ebay to resolve that issue

Couple of codes which indicate a speed wheel sensor so ill take them off and have a clean up and replace if needed.

Even got onto the z3 today and fired her up

The parcel shelf doesn’t drop as part of the roof opening operation. That’s what the 2 handles in the boot are for. The shelf has to be in the low position or the roof will not drop. With the roof up you can raise the parcel shelf to give you extra boot space.

Thanks Tony

Would that not flash an orange light as I have not had that. The missus was faffing around in the boot yesterday with my mother (Talking about how much boot space it had) and I'm wondering if they played around with something!

Washer motor was a fuse blown think the jets had bunged up blew and airline down them changed fuse and happy days.

Speed sensors cleaned and refitted all good so far!

Could've been someone messing with something they shouldn't have.;)=))
Although could be better left as one of life's little mysteries. All easy and cheap repairs at least.

That line of questioning would be like trying to get the truth out of Boris...better to pretend it never happened and move on! =))
