my fuel gauge read low on fuel, light had been on for a while but not a huge amount of miles.

went down to start her up today..normally on the button every time..this time very sluggish indeed ..took along time to catch maybe 15-20 seconds..finally started and ran very rough for a bit till i got to the petrol station no acceleration and just a bit unresponsive, filled up half a tank started on the button and now seems to run fine..just running a bit rich but haven't had a chance to drive any real distance and do the "italian tune up"

am assuming because i inadvertently nearly ran the tank to empty some crap had blocked either the line or injectors and will come good after a good drive, have to go to petworth from guildford in the morning so was thinking to fill her all the way and maybe add some redex..have a bottle in the garage but before i do would like some feedback on whether or not this is a good idea maybe just a full tank of super and a good run will be enough...up to this point she has purred like a kitten so i'm hoping i have this diagnosed correctly.

p.s i only ever fill with highest octane fuel and this is the first time i have run the car for anytime with the light on, i thought we had a good 60 miles with the warning light on, apparently not!

any thoughts please much appreciated

thanks

Mine does that sometimes, especially at winter time, have no idea why and can't find any problem.
Fuel gauge is erratic, some times showing the red light, then going back to quarter full.
I just live with it......

What do you expect they are women after all! treat her nice, buy her a new air freshener, and she will behave ;)

P.S. Redex does not hurt i use it every 4 tanks full

thanks for your replies..big up the m44 massive!

I put in a full tank of shell Vpower and she is back to her reliable old self..blew the cobwebs out today on a spirited run to Petworth and back and not a problem at all..B.T.W what a picturesque little village it is ..and parked next to a metallic light blue (very close to atlanta) 4.2 E type jag with a walnut steering wheel and cream leather interior, beautiful car..I know they are poles apart cost wise but my Z looked comfortable in the jags presence!

still thinking about doing the redex anyways just to give it a thorough clean..
