I will soon dig into my overheating issue and came across this fan clutch delete kit which would get me the new water pump and thermostat I need. I do not know if I have an issue with my fan clutch, but this seems like a good route to go. Have any of you done a similar mod? Is there a downside?

I have a '98 2.8 for reference.

Does your zed have an auxiliary electric fan fitted to it need that for that kit to work as this is what it utilises instead of the viscous fan

I’ve done it and the only time she ran hot is on a 30c track day on a short track with a big hill.
Fast road and sitting in traffic never been a problem.
Some people have no problems with viscous but I’ve had endless issues.
Latest casualty (3rd one) this was after a track outing and with new engine and gearbox mounts.

I have an aircon so that is used instead but I’m going for an additional electric one as I’m doing more track work. For road work it’s not needed on the 2.8.

check these links for info I’m making sure the aircon fan is actually wired correctly:

Just to update this, I've managed to source an OEM manufacturer fan (complete fan, blades and...

Here is the info on the replacement Aux fan:

I did the fan delete mod, all i did is remove the fan clutch etc and fit a new lower temp fan switch on the side of the radiator, an 88C one, driven it hard including track days and no issues 3 years plus, monitored the temps with INPA and rock steady as long as your cooling system is in top condition i would not hesitate, I changed the pump the radiator and the expansion tank at the time too.

I did mine, had a blown radiator. So I replaced the radiator with an aftermarket aluminum radiator, put in a new water pump and thermostat. Living in Arizona right now and the temps are fairly high, 100 to 110 degrees F. No problems.

My Nissan has two electric fans. The car never ran hot until one day a couple of years ago when I was in a traffic jam in the middle of Birmingham on a very hot day. The gauge was well into the red before I was able to get off the road and let it cool down. Both fans were unplugged - presumably before I bought the car. It had never been a problem until then. So personally, I would always keep a fan just for a day like that...

It's all down to how much maintenance and inspections you do to your car yourself, I test the fans once a year before the summer starts the same as I test other things before the winter etc, takes 5 minutes to test the fans both high and low speed at the temp switch connector. Also here in the UK I don't think we have the weather temperatures that would maybe make a mod like this a bit riskier.

Hi. I have a very noisy fan - I have changed the viscous for an OEM one, but still the same. I'm convinced it's the thermostat telling the fan the engine is hot so it runs full speed. However, I am now thinking 'stop messing about, and remove the bloody thing'.

So my question is, where do I source a fan delete kit for a 2.8? The only one I have found online is from the states.

Any thoughts?
If you have aux fan (AC) then all you need to do is change the rad switch. There is at least 2 threads on here, one being mine. If no Aux fan then you will need to add an electric fan. Also are you sure its the fan, I had the same issue on mine changed the clutch and no change, and as it turns out its one of the belt pulleys making the noise.
