What a race, thoroughly enjoyed that.......Badger GP........points & more points...........
In Summary
■Button wins
■Big accident at first corner
■Alonso, Hamilton, Grosjean, Perez out
■Maldonado, Karthikeyan out
BBC F1 co-commentator David Coulthard:
"Alonso had a car launch over the top of his chassis and he is taking some time to gather his thoughts. That was real drama at the start of this grand prix.
"Lewis Hamilton walked over to Romain Grosjean and looked like he was trying to apportion some blame."
BBC
We've just seen a replay of Lewis Hamilton pointing to the side of his head and gesturing towards Romain Grosjean, basically asking: "What were you playing at?"
You have to say that based on the replays, Grosjean was far too aggressive at the start and looks like he was responsible for starting that chain of events.
We were very, very lucky that no one was seriously injured. Unsurprisingly, we're hearing that Hamilton won't be giving any interviews until after the race.
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso:
"I have a little bit of pain on my back because of the hit. It is a shame I could not continue the race. I did not know what happened until I saw the TV.
"The cars behind me touched and lost control, and they were in front of us. It was a disappointment to see points lost but in five days I can be in the car in Monza.
You can have an injury in your hand or your head with a crash like that, so I am lucky in that aspect.
"I felt a train coming with a big, big hit. I stayed in the car due to the hit. There was a bit of fire in the car and I could not breathe because of the smoke so I jumped out."
