A highly polished car = less drag coefficient which = a faster car. Science factMore like polished to death.......![]()
That's a compliment in my worldJesus that's a whole new level of anal!
If we put you in a room with @Pingu I bet we could make a black hole, with your spreadsheets and his graphs![]()

Don't forget the dust caps, apparently they make the car faster tooA highly polished car = less drag coefficient which = a faster car. Science factYou don't see dirty F1 cars

Dust caps have a weight to them and dirt is additional weight and it disrupts the airflow around your car causing turbulence which in turn slows the car down. I'm convinced that @mrscalex could prove itDon't forget the dust caps, apparently they make the car faster too![]()

Good idea, less weight, more speedEspecially if you steal em![]()

Wil be interesting to see how many of those turn up with reduced mileages 2yrs later (you did keep a record of reg no, vin and mileages didn’t you @mrscalexI do proper analyses of this from time to time. Yeah, sad I know. In fact there's a previous thread I started somewhere.
My last look at this was in Oct 17 and was based on ebay for sale mileage. My own labels of course and these are very subjective.

Since then mileages have (of course) moved on a little. 100k remains a psychological barrier but without re-running the exercise it feels like there are materially less sub-100k cars around now and that prices are sneaking up. I'd possibly expect the 'Sensible' category to be moving towards 85k to 105k now.
I get all the arguments that a high mileage car can be lovely. But the unavoidable truth is, just with repaired write-offs, that values are normally impacted.
)Well said that man145,000 MLS and someone in the trade drove it saying " if I didn't know the mileage I would have guessed around 30,000, it feels as tight as a new car". It's not what's on the clock that counts, it's how it's been looked after and maintained. Buy a car from a true enthusiast and I reackon you won't go wrong, after all I could probably have bought a coupe with around 90,000 on it and had nothing but overlooked/unseen repairs needing doing in the short term, as it is I've bought from someone that looked at everything and done it before it was troublesome.
Luck doesn't come into it as I did my homework before making an offer. Luck only came when he @Lee said YES.
My advise, if you can buy from a enthusiast and/or someone on here you'll likely get something worth having.
I bought the coupe with no regrets at 144,000 MLS on the clock. Say no more.

Well I’ve got a high mileage car 151,500 Having said that I really don’t think mileage counts on it, it’s just about had everything changed on it, I think the only mechanical things that are original are the gearbox and diff. Every thing else has been changed including all body panels roof windscreen and paint and the head has been stripped and rebuilt. So my mileage dose not reflect the true car, which drives like a new one.
Mine done 131000 highest milage car I've ever had but to be honest, I would have ended up spending the same amount so far on a car with half the milage and maybe £2000 to £3000 more to start with. Every car I buy I service it regardless of history and milage so this time round I brought that needed to bits doing anyway at a cheap price. Yes a 1 owner 20000mile car would have been nice but then knowing me what I'm like and I defo Wouldn't use ..
Mint car millions of miles and 15 prev owners..... But I can use it with out worrying about the value dropping and so far all is good as with most of the cars alot of the major parts that have gone already have and been replaced fingers cross anyway
