after the troubles with the water pump and thermostat the expansion tank seems to have caught the blunt end of it all so it needs replacing.
it may be just the o ring but for 20 quid i might as well put a new one on and know its right.
i know its only 2 minutes to take the radiator out..but has anyone removed the expansion tank before....and any tips?

Yes there is. There is a small pipe running down the nearside of the engine compartment. It attaches to the radiator with a little pesky clip thats quite tricky to re-connect (its at the top on the nearside). The coolant tank (on my S50) hooks under a wedge at the front and pushes down into two clips at the rear - no fasteners at all. I dont know whether all Z3's are like that.

thanks for the replies chaps
right so if its over filled this is where it will release?
after changing the thermostat and water pump iv refilled it but had this drip coming from the side of the radiator/expansion tank...iv left it for 6 days while i was on shift and today when i looked the level was exactly where it should be....but anything left for 6 day leaking should have emptied or a least been a lot lower and the drip has stopped.
i took it for a run of about 30 miles and all seems fine....no loss of coolant apart from the filler cap steaming a bit (might have not been on fully tight)....might be sussed :ympray:
