Hi.....
At the risk of sounding daft....when I first got my z3 there used to be an electronic sound when the key was removed, this no longer works, I’ve recently had a rds radio cassette player installed. Could the two be connected?

thank you in advance - Andy

To the best of my knowledge the only electronic sound is when you remove the key is the lights on warning sound. Can't say I've ever heard one on mine.

Yes there is a lights on buzzer (really loud & annoying) which sounds as soon as the ignition is turned off if the lights are on.
Mine randomly stopped working not long after I bought my car. Apparently the buzzer itself is in the instrument cluster and every post on the subject that I found suggested not attempting to try to fix it as it's a big job. Instead I had a local auto electrician wire up a new buzzer for me - the bonus is it sounds a lot nicer than the nasty factory one!

Yes, can only think of lights on buzzer. My only real pet hate on the design of these cars. What were BMW thinking of!

It’s definitely not the horrid light buzzer, it’s baffling me now, I promise I’ve not imagined it 😬

The light buzzer has grown on me tbh. I think I quite like it now

Maybe a previous owner fitted an after market exit noise module
Or it was your old head unit.

That may be it - Sony headunits make a bleeping noise to remind you to remove the front from the stereo as you get out...
I'm sure other brands probably do the same.

My previous Z3 (pre facelift 2.8) did this, a sort of quiet hum for several seconds after the ignition was switched off, I presumed there was a cooling fan on the electronics somewhere. My current car (facelift 2.2) doesn't do it ??

That’s the only thing I think it can be my previous radio was a Sony so that would make sense
