Exhaust tip - Z3 1.9 E36 2003

Is the exhaust tip on the exhaust welded on? I took off the outer shell. Pics attached and it looks like it is welded as one.

So what size oval stainless steel tip do i need? Anyone with any recommendations?

As far as I have been able to determine, the OEM tips (black or chrome) are out of production. You may have to just paint it

I have been digging around and found a chrome one from a Singapore website (name escapes me). So hopefully it will be of decent quality.

I’ve used stainless tube and a vice before, took a fair bit of patience to get the shape absolutely spot on. Couple of stainless self tappers and some exhaust paste, so there were no rattles, worked really well.

It arrived today - got it from here! I paid by paypal. I did not get a confirmation of order or despatch so I raised a complaint on ebay resolution centre after 9 days but it arrived ok so cancelled complaint.

Looks very good - excellent fit. Certainly improves the look. Came with a sizeable microfibre cloth for free!

Yes it was really simple - remove the outer shell of old one after undoing bolt - slide on new one, do up bolt which locks it against the inner. job done!
