Z4 has developed a rattle on start up, as most has been generally stationary for the last 10 weeks, now on start up and take off (not literally) a tinny rattle coming from under the car. Goes off as the revs increase.
Hopefully a heat shield, but could it be the CAT?

If it’s a tinny rattle it’s very unlikely to be the Cat mate. Rang at lunchtime and they’ve not looked at my starter motor yet.

If it was the CAT was talking myself into a sports exhaust, need to get underneath and see if its a heat shield or something.
What's the delay with yours ?

Big issue is no staff Paul. only 2 out of 6 at work and they're snowed under, bound to happen as time goes on. Anyway they called just before home time today and said it's definitely the starter motor and he was waiting on price and availabilty. Shouldn't take much over an hour, I remember Maurice changing his at home.

I changed the starter motor on Pooleys 3.0 without too much trouble only issue i had the non OEM starter i had to bore out the mounting on the starter for the bolt to go through other than that did it from above the car and with my limited ability still managed it

Yes, it's easy enough if you have the car at home, but with the cost of getting it brought home being more than the cost of fitting one it didn't make much sense but to leave it with them. Have to buy a starter regardless. Just another way this bloody virus is costing money.:(
