Hello everyone, can anyone help, has anyone got an exhaust manifold stuck in the corner of your garage or shed as mine has got a massive crack in it and can’t be repaired.
I need one for my 55 plate 2.0i E85 with the built in Cat in the manifold.
Can anyone help please ?????
Cheers all

Is that a cast manifold?
I've repaired 2 manifolds with cats, not BMW, but they were fabricated. Took a fair bit of prep but both repaired easily, and I'm not a pro welder.
I'd speak to a decent/another welder.

May be worth looking on realoem to see if the same manifold is fitted to any other BMWs, a lot of parts are carried over from model to model.

Thankyou, will have to delve into this further

Thankyou, I’m waiting on it being removed to hope it can be welded. Cheers

A few more years and we'll all be breaking z4s, if theres any left :D

Hey Simon, we had a 2.0 Z4 in where I used to work with a cracked exhaust manifold which was removed and repaired, twice, neither time did it last. I fear you will need to buy either a S/H good one or new mate. Sorry.

Tony.

Yes cheers Tony, that’s why I’m trying to ask anyone on here if they have one that they don’t need. A very rare beast by the look of it.

Repaired quite a few manifolds over the years, my son broke the damn things regularly, the problem is the carbon causes inclusions in the weld. The only way to get rid of that is a solvent or sandblasting, which you can't do because of the cat. I started welding it as best I could, grinding it back and adding a 1.5-2 mm thick stainless patch over the top. Which is another thing, needs a second argon feed to the inside of the pipe, or, addition of flux, to prevent corrosion and failure from the inside. Last one (for a bloke in the village), I think is still ok, wasn't mentioned last time we spoke, 2 years maybe since I welded it. I think though the failure on that one was the support bracket had corroded through and all the weight was on the manifold.
