Hi
I have a 1999 Z3 1.9 and anyone know if the Ews module is behind the glovebox or behind the panel below steering wheel?
TIA.

Are you sure that was the EWS? Maybe it's in a different place on earlier cars. But on a facelift and late pre-facelift it's under the steering wheel panel.

The GM IV/ZKE/Body control module and wiper module are normally behind the glovebox.

It's up under the dash, steering wheel side. Pale grey normally and the size of a fag packet.

On the 1998 1.9 it was behind glovebox - rather congested ( top of pic) - these were UK dealer installed at this time.
I vaguely recall reading elsewhere that they repositioned it towards end of pre-facelift when it became a factory option - can't find details of when.

This must be the earlier version of the EWS that sits outside of what I learnt up on. I studied the EWS3D that is on the driver side from later pre-facelift on.

I suspect the early cars have a simpler device fitted.

Reference numbers on these photos of early 98 installation may clarify Control Box - top side with rear connections.JPG`Hidden' switch to right of hole.JPG
