Hello Everyone,

I have a bmw z3 2.5 from 2001 and I have a traction control/dsc and a brake light on. I bought a creator C310+ reader and I am having the following error codes. Can anyone help me understand what could cause these codes and lights. The car runs fine, those lights are just frustrating to me.

5E43 - Steering-angle sensor, internal
5E32 Transverse acceleration signal
5DF4 System voltage < 9 volts
5E30 Transverse acceleration sensor
5E26 Control unit : voltage supply, sensor

E3 Fuel Trim bank 1, permissible range exceeded
E4 Fuel Trim bank 2, permissible range exceeded
08 Signal, air-mass flow sensor
CA Fuel trim bank 1 control limit
CB Fuel trim bank 2 control limit

I would appreciate any help to find what are causing these issues.

Best,

Benjamin

Looks like it has had or has a couple of different issues to me Benjamin, Some more knowledgeable than me will surely have answers, but welcome to the forum anyway...

Thank you ! For the 5 last errors, I suspect they are all caused by the MAF sensor, if someone experienced could confirm? The 5 first one though, I don't really know?

Me neither, have you tried clearing all the codes and see what comes back. But as I said, my knowledge is limited to what I have learnt here so far. My Z had codes to Africa and back, some I didn't understand either, cleared them all with a Foxwell 510NT, and only a couple returned... The answers were here for what remained.... The only serious error she has now, is the driver.

First thin I'd look at is that "System Voltage <9v"

I must confess that I don't know what System Voltage should be. But it's not happy about it. Lots of things go wrong when the voltages are off.

Fix that first and some of the other errors might well clear themselves.

I'm no expert but have you checked the battery connections are clean and tight and how old is the battery. Z4s seem to have lots of problems with older (over 5yrs old) batteries. Might be the same with Z3s.

Hello and :welcome: A lot of those codes could be historic so clear everything and see what comes back.

As has been said check the battery it may appear to be starting the engine okay but if the voltage is too low I.e below 10 volts during this operation errors can show up.

No expert but run a Range Rover sport and battery voltage courses all sorts of flashing lights bongs and messages.

Hi Benjamin and :welcome: to the forum from me too in Stafford, England.

As @ExMX5owner said above, clear all the codes first then see what comes back. Some of thoses codes could be years old and you'll be chasing non existent faults.

Edit, @Devon Z beat me to it ;)

Creator displays codes in Hex? Just like stepping back into the 1990s. I guess it doesn’t show what is current and historic either. Not a great tool, if that’s the extent of its output.
if you clear codes the fuel trim codes will take days or weeks to return. Don’t think you’ve fixed anything though, they’ll be back.
Airflow issues can result in fuel trim errors so check out the MAF and the source of any unmetered air (intake leaks) as a first step.

A first step for your brake problems would be checking the system voltages and grounds. Look for connector issues and corrosion on terminals. The codes appear to be pointing in that direction.

The Creator tool has given you a few clues where to look and it may be a long search to get to the root causes.
Good luck with it.

Sounds like a knackered sensor (or both) for the DSC under the left footwell (probably water ingress) and a knackered battery.

As said, clear the codes and see which re-appear instantly.

Nothing wrong with the Creator code reader IME. Gives you all you need to know (unless you want to start coding stuff).
