Engine warning light

I've got the engine warning light on
The Z passed the MOT last week
But they didn't have time to see what the problem was
So I took the Z in yesterday to have the Z put on the diagnostic machine
The result came back with no problems
So the mechanic cleared the dashboard and the Z was put back on the diagnostic machine again , but same result no problem
But today when I was coming home from work and the light came on again
The Z is a bit juddery when I first start off for about 20 seconds
Any ideas what it could be

Just got my Z back from the garage
The reason my Z was so juddery was because the Air in-take hose was split in a few places
due to wear and tear
My Z now drives like a dream
And I have no lights up on my dash board
Happy days

It was my fault why it took so long
Because I took the Z for a diagnostic test and nothing came up
So the garage cleared the dashboard for me
Then a few days later the engine light came on again
So a week later I took it back for another diagnostic test and it came up with different things
So the week after it had a compression test and then they found out what the problem was
Then I had to wait another week until I had a day of work to take the Z back to have the pipe done
