I've been thinking about whether I should keep the Z3M or sell it and buy a porsche. However, I think I'm going to keep it so may as well get it exactly how I want it. I've been thinking about what mods I should do to the engine and am pretty set on the idea of cams, exhaust and remap to give it a little bit extra power and noise.

Thorney motorsport are reasonably close which would be helpful, but I've heard west tuning in surrey are very clued up with the S50B32 engine so also would be a good place to go.

Does anyone have any recomendations?

I've heard good things from friends about CRMTECH near Shrewsbury, although I don't know them myself other than that I have spoken to them about supplying me with a decent M52B28 engine for my Zed, which they have confirmed that they can do from current stock. They build rally cars based on the E36 cars and usually fit tuned M3 engines in them. They are BMW "specialists".

Straight-through rear section of the exhaust has made a phenomenal difference to my M.

Right side = standard
Left side = straight-through w/ bypass valve

0-60 of 5.1 (measured by data logging software) and 30mpg
up from
0-60 of 5.3 and 24mpg

and it sounds like rolling thunder :woot:

other things I've done = accurate valve clearances, lightened flywheel, minimal disc run-out (<0.2mm at edge of disc) [floating discs will achieve the same].

I've looked at lots of other things and rejected most. I'm not looking at camshafts or remap until everything else has been optimised.

If you find somewhere that will do an Alpha-N tune on the S50 let me know!
