Just picked up two 4 litre bottles of 5W40 Castrol Edge FST for £24 a bottle from Costco RESULT !

I think the offer ends today though but it is still cheap at the normal price of £30 a bottle.

So going to change the oil along with the filter of course but I am also going to replace the constant pressure relief valve at the back of the block as I noticed it weeping when I was last under the car.

Timeto get my hands mucky now.

Just done oil, filter, air filter and gearbox oil.

That's it till next year!

You got the gearbox drain plugs out ok then. ?

Too a long time to fill with a teaspoon!

1.2 litres of oil came outl of the gear box.

Took 1.5 to fill to the line.

Drives quite a bit smoother now, not as notchy.

The service history I got with mine says the gearbox and diff oil were changed in 2008 but I might still change the gearbox for some of the royal purple stuff at some point.

It's hard to get hold of the royal purple oil now ian.

The company information you gave me don't use it anymore.

I went for the redline that they reccomended.

They say its the best.

Just for reference the filter set also includes the sump plug copper washer which I nearly got two of. I got 10% off those prices too with the BMW club discount.
