I've been offered a nice M52TU28 engine that I'd like to put into my black zed which currently has the M52B28 in.
I know it will go in, that's not the problem, but I'm a bit concerned about the upgraded electrics. I know I'll have to upgrade the exhaust system too, but the bolt on bits don't really concern me.
Have you or anyone you know done this conversion who can give me a few pointers please?
Will my auto gearbox bolt straight on?
My own engine is burning a lot of oil and an engine swap is the easiest and most cost effective solution. I'm keeping the car and want it running right.

Will the exhaust manifold from M52B28 fit the M52TUB28? If it does, could I use my old exhaust system?

Only suggestion is try the manifold on the new head mate. Sorry I can't offer more help.

Tony.

I can't give specific advice. But I would take the opportunity to acquire the engine loom and DME with it and swap those.

The engine is currently still in the donor car so everything is available.

The more I think about it I should wait until I can find a good M52B28 engine and do a straight swap and use my own electrics. There's no messing around then.

Got to say it would be a lot better if you can find the same engine. It only takes one slight difference in the wiring and you could be looking at a whole heap of pain. Or smouldering wreckage. It ain't like the good old days where there were only about six wires to an engine, there's a whole lot more to go wrong on these modern-day things. And, yes I do know that a Z3 isn't exactly modern, but they're modern enough to be a PITA.
