Hiya, can any one suggest any help please - unlocked the door this morning, opened the door and an alarm sounded with (PARK) as a warning symbol on the dash. The brake lever wont do anything, put brake on or take it off. It worked perfectly ok last night and never had a problem with it. My service indicator came on a few days ago saying it was due which it is booked in for next tuesday, dont know if that has any significance to it.

Any help, most appreciated,

Gill

Seems like this could be an issue with early E89s (Z4) and requires a software update to rectify it. I did read somewhere that it could be due to a low battery. Have you used the Zed4 much over winter, if not it could be the battery has run down triggering the problem. One fix that might work is if you disconnect the battery, Ground out the positive and negative cables on the car then reconnect to the battery. Then pull the brake actuator up four times. it might release the brakes and the light on the dashboard will go out. Other than that you're in the lap of the gods, or BMW as they are otherwise known.

Thanks a lot Mike for your advice. Also, the brake isnt on, as i moved it to get my other car out for work this morning and all seemed fine other than being able to put the parking brake on. I will give BMW a ring on sat morning and see if anyone there can offer any help.
Thanks Alot.

Hi, well the outcome is:

The bmw garage rang me again this afternoon and the technician who actually sorted my car spoke to me, i got more sense out of him than the manager or bmw customer services.

He completely wiped the memory of all software and installed the latest software. All should be as new now so no gremlins sneaking in. Still shouldnt have happend to a safety feature, but i feel better that it has the lastest software for a few years.
