Hi all,

I’ve only had my Z3M a few months and as it’s winter here in the U.K. the hard top
has been on since I purchase it.
I read somewhere I think that when you raise the soft top the brake has to be applied before it will raise!
Is this correct?

Merry Christmas to you all and thanks for all the help over the last few months.

Barry

All that needs to happen is that the brake lights are illuminated (ie very light pressure on the pedal) so you can raise/lower the roof while doing 25mph or less.

Tony.

The exclusive manual roof brigade do not have these worries; undo two clips and chuck it back, simples.:)

I also own a 1.9. Z3 with manual top. I always stand outside of the car to fold it down so the window is correctly folded in case it is damaged!

I've had both manual and electric, I much prefer to push a button ;)
If it were fully automatic, maybe. Our E36 convertible is truly fully automatic (no catches to release etc and the tonneau drops in place as part of the process). Semi auto seems pointless to me.:)

Each to their own I much prefer to be able to put the hood up without getting out the car

me too, so I converted the wife's Z3 to electric too.

I also prefer to turn an ignition key, rather than a starter handle.. even though "it's one more thing to go wrong"
It's called progress....;)

Yes but an ignition key is only semi automatic starting as you have to turn the key, pressing a button is much easier so I think I will stick with the crank handle

That's proper effort mate, you'd get wet when it's raining, and you could break your thumb :watching:
