Is there any work around that allows the roof to be raised without having to have the brake depressed?

Tottling along in very slow moving traffic the other day it started to rain and stopping the car so I could depress the brake to raise the roof resulted in several drivers behind me testing their horns.

When I want to do that I just lightly apply the brakes, enough to turn on the brake lights but not enough to apply brake force.
It's difficult to do while driving but can be done for special situations at very low speeds.

Exactly what I used to do leaving Lincoln at hometime.

Also the brake switch, has 4 terminals, when my switch failed the roof would not go at all but the brake lights still worked, I cant remember if the switch is normally open or closed at the roof side, but you could micky it there for a more permanent approach..Not sure if this might effect say your cruise control or anything else, I didnt notice, and I drove around for weeks till I found a new switch to get the roof working as it should, governed by the brakes...
