Electric pushbikes

Cyclists "...bloody dangerous for motorists." Yeah, cyclists are killing motorists every day! lol. I think it's actually the other way round and of course there are idiotic cyclists , just as there are idiotic motorists. As to which are most dangerous , well it's a no brainer.

had a go of my mates trek ebike.. hes an old gent, and said dont take it out of eco mode as its too fast... tried eco, then tried all the other modes was nice bike to ride. told him i used turbo and he was quite surprised. been looking hard at them over the last few weeks, and thinking of making my own with a bafang motor....conversion

Yeah, the Baffang 750w BB02 with a 15kwh battery would make an awesome run about. It'd cost about £1000 plus a bike but it'd be much quikcer than any ones on the market, and you can program the controller how you like. You aren't restricted by all the awful health and safety nonsense you get with the bosch motors.

That looks interesting - but to be honest the Cruise ebike I have is restricted to 15mph, but it doesnt prevent you from just pedalling harder to whatever speed you want, its just that the power assistance doesn't operate above that speed. I have often reached 30mph on it, usually on a long stretch of gradual downhill incline. The electric motor comes into it's own when your climbing up a long incline, but is fun on the level. I'm getting on a bit now and 15mph on a bike is plenty fast enough for me - although I do occasionally go for it and put it through it's paces. I certainly wouldn't want to go faster than 30 odd mph.

As I posted further up the thread, you come to a junction or roundabout for example and you look and you see a bog standard looking pushbike, not a racing bike, so you think OK and pull out, before you know it, they are on your bonnet and its all your fault.
The bloke I mentioned in my post got a brand new one on the car owners insurance.
Surely the onus is on motorist to give way to any vehicle (including cyclists) already on the roundabout or road you are about to join - pulling out in front of them and then saying he was going faster than you thought (or expected), wouldn't get you very far, when the cops are interviewing you for driving without due care and attention!

image.webp This one has a number plate, maybe Norway make people register them.

Looks really heavy, wonder what it's like to pedal when the battery dies.
