ECU QUESTION

Happy New Years to all!!!
Just swapped the engine from a 1,9 to a 1,9is.
The workshop that did the swap insisted that there is no reason to change the ECU even though I bought the 1,9is engine with its own ECU???
Is he right?? I would think that each engine would have different settings even if the ECU is the same since the IS engine is 16v DOHC while the previous one was 8v ect ect???
