We're looking to put a set of winter tyres on a new set of wheels on the 20i M Sport. Gail does mainly country road driving so runflats are essential - don't want to get a puncture in the dark on a country lane miles from anywhere). We were looking to use 18" wheels rather than the 19"s that are on, but it is proving very difficult to source 255/35 tyres (working from memory here) for the rear that aren't ludicrously expensive. If we choose 17" wheels the tyres go to 225/45/17 front and rear.
This size is fitted to the standard 20i but not offered as an option on the MSport version.
Anyone know if :-
1. The 225/45/17 on 8Jx17" will fit on the M Sport (are the brake calipers different or some other size constraint)?
2. As they are not a standard size on this model will we have problems with the insurance?
