Need some advice from you electrical / radio bods before I get a hammer in my hands and start investigating.

recently and for no apparent reason I started to get static from the passenger door speaker only. Even with the radio off, keys out, it starts as soon as the car is woken, as in opening a door or unlocking.

If you wait about 5 mins for the car to go back to sleep it stops. Nothing I do to the radio stops it.

I have done a quick bit of research and it appears to be a fairly common issue with the e89s, that said I cant find a definite answer as to the cause, seems some owners have an intermittent issue and others just didn't go back on forums to put a solution on, if they ever found one.

One area some agree on is AMP issues, but as my stereo is a bog standard one, no Nav, no BT I seem to think there is no separate AMP and what's needed is built into the stereo? I haven't taken the door card off as yet to have a looksee at the speaker and wires, though I have considered a very large hammer to sort it :banghead:

Any ideas?

Just in case any other e89 owners come across this problem. I seem to have cured it (Not sure how exactly) After checking the speakers and amp I decided to remove the head unit, once I pulled it out the static stopped. Assuming a bad connection, damaged wire etc I started looking and fiddling etc but could not reproduce the problem, so I put the head unit back in and its been fine since. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Ah, the old 'poke and hope' method. Used it myself many times:whistle:
