E89 Silver to Black Wheels?

New tyres on order, so I need to make a decision about whether to change the wheel colour.

The car currently has 19" M 326 style wheels. They are OE silver and this show's them off beautifully, but I'm sorely tempted to change to gloss black as I think this would make the car look a little more, erm, purposeful! Just a shame that the detail of the wheels would get lost a bit.

I would also change from chrome to gloss black kidney grilles.

First pic is of my car as it is... second is a pic I found on the net of one with black wheels.

It really is a 'flip of a coin' decision - any thoughts?

PS - daylight was fading when I took the shot of my car, so the wheels look 'shadow chrome' rather than the bright silver they are. TBH, 'shadow chrome' would be perfect, but there's no one local who does that effect, and I can't have the car out of action for as long as it would take for them to be sent away.

Cheers

LOL... my mind is changing every time I think about it, so probably best that I save my pennies and spend it elsewhere.

Interesting, I have been having similar thoughts about my Boston green Z3. The wheels are OK (ish) but have 20 years of wear and a little corrosion so could do with a refurb. My current thinking is to have them done in a dark shadow chrome rather than black. Like you, I keep changing my mind though.
I used to be indecisive but now am not so sure!:whistle:

Any one have a picture of a dark green Z3 with black/dark wheels? :thumbsup:

Just my view but I think black wheels are a bit 'gangster', amplified more so on your car colour.

Not a real comparison as mine's a Z3 and Cosmos Black but I have silver and smoked wheels on mine;

That wheel is one of my favourite new BMW wheels and very ‘3d’ in the flesh.
The black would hide it a lot but shadow chrome would be ideal.
If you can’t get shadow chrome then a metallic grey would do the job.

My previous wheels had a grey metallic finish (I think it was a Car body colour they used) which gave the shape a bit more effect but would still look nice and bright in full daylight so didn’t hide the detail

I think if you go black then you need to have the colour broken up some how. I have just gone to black gloss but they have got silver in them as i think too much black can be quite drab.
