Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone else has picked up on the fuel changes due to come in soon. According to the motoring section in the Mail, standard petrol will soon be allowed to contain 10% bioethanol, that is increasing from the current 5%. Premium fuel will not change for another five years. Seemingly this might be a problem for pre 2002 cars, I guess that’s all z3 owners. Bioethanol is prone to cause rotting in certain rubbers and plastics. They identified fibreglass fuel tanks, fuel filter connector pipes, fuel pump connector pipes and float tanks in carburettors ( we should be ok with that one). They recommend that all fuel tanks should be changed to metal. Has anyone come across this yet? Do we know what needs to be changed?

BMW claim that all their cars are OK with modern junk fuel.

I should have known that German engineering would be ahead of the game. Thanks!
