DSC Problem

Hi All
This problem has happened twice so far, 2 months and 600 miles apart, the dsc and brake warning lights came on, the first time during light braking for a roundabout and the second time during a 1/2hr stop/start jam up due to roadworks, Parked the car up at home and both times when I went back to it about 1/2 hr later all was back to normal.
I'm hoping the problem is due to a faulty wheel sensor, is it only the rear wheel sensors that affect the dsc or do I need to change all four?
Ron

You'll need to get a code reader on it Ron. That will tell you which sensor is causing the problem. Are you sure you have DSC on your car? I have on mine but mines a facelift 2002 version.

Hi Dave
Thanks for the reply, yes it's a facelift with DSC, looks like I'll need to have a look into getting a code reader, any recommendations?

I can recommend a Foxwell NT530.

As said you need to get the fault codes read to see if it's a sensor as another possible issue is the yaw sensor under the passenger seat on dsc equipped cars these can get water into them if there is a leak anywhere ( leaks not always apparent due to thick sound deadening under carpets.

I've got INPA & BMW Scanner on a laptop but I find the Creator C310+ is easier to use. It certainly diagnosed my F/O/S faulty wheel sensor fault ok.
Replacing it was another story:whistle:

Thanks for the replies, I've ordered a Creator 110+ from everyone's favourite auction website.
I would be surprised if it's internal dampness, I had the driver's seat out last autumn to fit new bushes and it was bone dry underneath then and hasn't been out in any serious rain since.
Any recommendations for wheel sensor suppliers, they seem to vary greatly in price.
Ron
PS Just noticed I still have my previous car on my avatar, it's now a facelift 2001 2.2 with DSC, sorry for any confusion

I've no experience of the 110+ only the 310+, someone else may have.

I tried ebay but the wrong one was supplied even though it said fitted my car. After a discussion they said I would have to go to the dealer. Sopers @ Lincoln give forum discount so worked out around the £90 mark.

Need to change it Ron, saves any future confusion. That's why I queried whether you had DSC.;)

It's a c110+ that I have should be able to read the abs fault codes ok.
You will need the 16 pin obd2 to 20 pin round obd adapter as the obd plug under the steering wheel will not give you access to what you want you need to use the 20pin obd port in the engine bay.

Had the same problem on our 2001 3.0 . All three lights on the dash, purchased the abs sensor apparently for my car even verified with the reg number but was obviously incorrect when the faulty front offside sensor was removed.
BMW call it a pulse generator dsc , got ours from Cotswold for approx £80 delivered.
