DRL Lights

Advice please guys have now fitted DRL's the problems is they don't seem to dim? or shut down when
the headlights are used any idea's?
oh tried connecting to the interior light and the light fuse's in the fuse box

Did they come with a control box Bazza and did you follow the wiring diagram?
Sorry if these are daft questions mate.

ps. My kit came with its own "harness" which you plugged together leaving only 3 wires left to connect.

In the kit that @t-tony fitted for me, there was a control box and one of the wires from it was connected to the headlight feed. So when the headlights are on, the d.r.l's go off.

On my kit on the Z4 the DRL's dim down to sidelight wattage when the lights are on. Very handy as my lights are on auto at this time of year but I also fitted an inline isolator switch so I can turn them off completely.
My kit on the Z3 was like Steve's either on or off.

the control box had 5 wires two for the lights 1 pos + 1 neg two for the power feed again 1 pos + 1 neg straight to the battery terminals
and 1 wire to either dash board light or headlight or fog, it all looks OK to me they work as they should apart from either shutting down
or dimming?

If you've connected them correctly mate can only be the control box not working as it should.

Missed this Baz, but can only agree with Tony. If the lights come on but not go off when headlights are on make sure the connection to the headlight is good. Otherwise, yes, suspect the control box. Good luck...

Dave I connect the headlamp wire into the fuse for headlights, I would have thought this would have been the best place also tried various other fuse’s as well

You could try connecting the headlight feed wire directly onto the Dip beam wire at the headlight just to be sure.

Just to make sure the box is ok, just connect the headlamp wire to any 12v supply
