Came across an accident the other morning within minutes of happening. The car came out of a bad bend on a narrow country road - another huge vehicle coming the other way on the same bend at the same time - the driver must have lost control, possibly startled, and the car ended up in a field - back to front. Another driver had already stopped - I pulled over - we were in darkness - traffic started backing up from the nasty bend. Anyway - the R driver managed to scramble out of the mangled bodywork and walk away - badly shaken (with mobile in hand - not sure if it was being used though).

I have to say as I walked towards the accident spot my heart was racing in expectation as to what I might see - thankfully no one injured.

Stay safe everyone - young and mature drivers - phones in the glove box whilst driving - beside your glove and the box - lol!

Happy Christmas and New Year!

Bad accident in Dunham-on- Trent in the early hours and the road and bridge over the Trent still closed at 8.30 sounds like a fatality. Some family's Christmas forever ruined . . . . . . . . . . :(:(:(

Very brave, many people would not have the courage to go and help.

I had a near miss with a white BMW saloon this week, a young chap holding the phone on the steering wheel with one hand, tapping on the screen with the other, veering into my lane not looking.

Something really has to be done about this massive smartphone/driving problem.

Turns out this was a young man who our Abbie knew, 33 years old walking home from the pub.:(

@t-tony reading a bit was a recipe for disaster :- patchy fog, black ice, first day back, busy roads, too fast and then someone changed direction too quickly and then it all goes wrong.

It's as easy as that Brian, it doesn't take much. I was being careful on my way to Lincoln this morning but still had an idiot far too close for even dry conditions, but strangely he didn't want to pass me when I slowed and pulled to the left !!

I think a lot of people drive by the car in front of them and never look beyond it as well (or behind) and only react when the one in front does something.
