Dragging threads off topic and inappropriate innuendo

I'm getting frustrated at the moment by a couple of things, so I'm asking publicly for people to be more considerate of others when posting on the forum. I'm not naming names at the moment, but may start firing off messages to people directly if it carries on.

1. Inappropriate innuendo in serious threads. Unless it's in the General Banter (or NSFW) section, keep the crap to yourselves. That's why we have those areas, to keep the stupid stuff out of the important threads.
2. Dragging threads off topic. Technical threads are exactly that, and should not be derailed. Show a little respect to thread starter, and try and help them and future readers out who are interested in the subject.
3. Welcome threads are just that, a chance to welcome new members to the community. Not an opportunity for you to showcase your off topic smutty comedian routines.

Please just use simple courtesy when replying. You personally may think you are hilarious, but not everyone thinks the same thing - my inbox proves that.

I always appreciated the humour on this site when related to the subject matter..............but it became very frustrating when postings were hikacked for total 'back slapping' crap

I'm not sure you know what you speak of, possibly as one of culprits. Sitting in ignorance of the problems you cause must be bliss.

Nowhere have I said you can't say what you want. I merely ask you to stop posting offensive stuff in the wrong places. I'm not sure how that constitutes blocking your freedom. You have been told many times where it's appropriate, and many times where it's not.

Personally I would prefer the offensive stuff wasn't posted at all, but I allow a lot of freedom on here.

This site takes a considerable amount of personal time and money on my part to provide it as a free service to you and everyone else. Please show some respect for what you have, or feel free to stop using that free service.

BTW, will you please stop making references to a website I have absolutely nothing to do with. I haven't been there for well over two years. There is no association, so comparing this site is completely irelevant.

This is my experience of being new to this forum and finding my way around.i enterd a potm my first one,I think you implied I was cheating,and not really knowing how things worked on this forum it was almost my last post.i like being honest but I try not to offend and what is offensive to some is water off a ducks back to others.heres what my mum has to say"if you can't say anything good don't say anything"and " engage brain before putting mouth in gear"and most importantly "take those muddy boots off before you tread on my clean floor" 3 simple rules to live by

@Miller did you follow all the rules? I'm sure I only commented for a reason.

I think people on here are quick to judge without knowing the person, people can are very different in the real world, and might surprise you.

I've made some good friends and thats all that counts.

Wow you have managed to" offend " me again,just for your information I did not cheat on the ptom ask the man in charge because I did before entering the picture.How can we do anything but judge someone when we only know them by what they write .1 last thing while I'm venting, I'm a little dyslexic ,but I personally know others who were bullied at school because of it and they would never think of posting on here.Good luck Hugh

Gaz, what a thread to post, talk about dirty washing in public, as you can see above, you are dividing the community, as forum owners and moderators you have powers to deal with thus subject which include not making a public spectacle, the correct way to do this was to repost the forum rules and talk to those considered wrong individually, and then if required use the ban / lockout process.

It will be interesting to see where the forum goes from this, hopefully it will pick its self up, but in a last message, there are not that many technical posts anymore, as we have covered nearly all of them, and quite well, with pictures, links etc, that you only have to search for an answer and not ask, the only traffic in the main is people talking and having banter, which shows good community spirit, let's hope we are are not defeated by our own success, and there are numerous threads of people thanking you for your efforts plus donations being made.

Sorry rant over, and sorry if nobody finds me / us funny, but instead of writing to you perhaps the guys could write to us and help us provide more appropriate funny material, but my #of funny trophies speaks for itself.

Perhaps this whole thread should be removed after a few more hours?

Do people actually think I wanted to post this up last night? Or perhaps people might realise that I'm really frustrated (and I wasn't the only one last night going on my inbox).

What has happened by me posting this and not locking the thread is a discussion - OK, not a very pleasing one. If the over whelming majority would prefer this site to be overrun with innuendo and technical threads you can't find the technical stuff, then I guess I'll back down and let you do what the majority want.

Those people who have previously been moderated and received messages from me are well aware of what has caused the issues for which they are being moderated. The only thing they don't get is the name of the person who clicked the report, or messaged me.

I'm just asking for people to follow the basic rules we have, as the vast majority of members already do.
