The foam one thats pictured only came on the facelift onwards (from the cars I’ve taken apart anyway!)

They are expensive to buy new - about £40 ea I think. Well worth trying to repair.

Totally standard on nearly all Z3s made apart from earliest cars. But may have been replaced with plastic sheeting previously.
This will be why i am pretty unfamiliar with these. Got a nice 97 and owned a 98. 97 just has plastic sheeting...the wish list is getting longer.

Same on mine.
Mine is a 12/97 production and has plastic sheet. Looking at real.oem it looks like the insulation was from 04/98 - unless your car is earlier.

Has anyone found a reseller for these where they are not uber expensive?

I found that the last person to do some maintenance on the doors basically used cellophane and packing tape, the result is the door cards turned to mush. I have new door cards, but I want to make sure I get a proper vapour barrier when I replace them.

You'll only buy them new from BMW.

Decent second-hand not easy to find. I repair them with thick neoprene self-adhesive tape. If the tape isn't very sticky you'll need to use some butyl to help secure.

If you are saying the originals are no longer there or are beyond repair it's BMW or a second-hand search.
