I have a replacement striker plate for the driver’s side and have to replace asap as the temporary insulation tape wrapped around the inner of the striker plate is wearing thin and necessitating it keep being added to as the car alarm keeps going off. Do the rear wheel, wheel arch liner and rear quarter have to come off to feed the one foot wiring to where it needs to connect with or is there a simpler solution to fitting the replacement striker plate?

Hi Dawn,

Found this on our forum... by Andy ( Spurs)

I circled the location on the forum where you should be able to see it.

Hope it helps

After a long overdue “relaxing night” last night became a “I might need to sleep in my car” what with the alarm going off constantly from 8:30pm until 1:30am, I can’t find a resource anywhere on whether the rear quarter needs to come off to do this.
I’ve had a new striker plate since about March and I’m also finding it impossible to find a garage that will deal with parts supplied!
I don’t want to cut the new part and do this quick fix that Malc has signposted as the cable and chip at the end is about a foot long.
Can anyone point me in the right direction of an online How To so I can see what exactly is involved…my sleep demands I get this sorted urgently.

Hi Dawn,

Not sure if this is of any help...and not saying this is correct.......but found a picture of mine with the carpet out.

There appears to be a cable running along side the door trim and goes into the cavity ( red arrow). Where the strike plate is located
(If you zoom in, it appears that it branches off the main loom at the bottom)
Then access to the plug may be through the opening ( green arrow) . I cant check on mine now as its all back together.
But someone may be able to clarify if that is the correct wire you are trying to trace.
If it is then its the drivers seat out, trim removed and pull the carpet back to get access.

Cant find any other pictures that might help.

Thanks Malc. It’s a start and hopefully someone else will shed more light on this.
