Hi

I am looking to put back the rubber seals that sit over the end of the door check strap against the A pillar. Both are missing on my car and I would think they have just deteriorated over the years and fell off. To do this I will of course have to detach the check strap.

Looking at various drawings and images it looks like two types of fastenings were used during production. One resembled a flat top screw which was held in place with a circlip on the bottom. The second one seems to be a pin shaped a bit like a torpedo (BMW part 51218141116) - see image attached. This is what is on my car. In certain adverts for this part though I find it being sold with an additional clip, which is not present on my car.

So, the question is: What is right? My car was manufactured in May 2000 can anyone out there confirm what method of attachment was correct for this time in production and which bits and which types should be present?

Many thanks for any help.

Nick
