Perfect weather Yesterday for this years Doncaster show, sun shining but a gentle breeze giving perfect conditions for a day out at a car show. After initial hic cup trying to fit a quart into a pint managed to get our cars parked up.7 Zeds amongst other BMW's on show extremely well presented.

Heres a couple of non Zeds that took the eye
Peter Hutch and his Alpina B5
Winner of the BMW car of the day (Independently Judged as the car the judge would most like to take home)

Tony Ruane 840
My favourite, and the car i desperately wanted to take home with me!

Great day all round with the only bad note, some idiot in a Yank Tank with the over sized engine sticking out of the bonnet left the site, booted it, lost control mounted the pavement and destroyed a wall and the best part of the front end of his car. Fortunately no one was walking on the pavement at the time and no one was hurt. As usual one lunatic could effect future enjoyment of this top class event

Great day out, thanks to @Paul Rice for organising.

Heard about the crash, was it the black car with the massive supercharger? I'm sure that was close to us as we were leaving so must have happened just behind us.

Hope it doesn't have any negative consequences for next year.

Yep, Black and Burgundy, he was tucked in the corner revving its nuts off just as you left we were waiting to leave.

Dammit, should have put my name down, sorry Paul, will do next year - if there is one by the sound of it. What a chop . . .

Did have a nice run out on Saturday with Herself to North Yorkshire though. Picnic on the Terrace at Rieuveaux, so the weekend wasn't totally wasted. Nice and warm !

Is that blue 850i the same one I saw at Newby ? It was tucked in the back corner under / next to a gazebo. That is a special car, with you on that one. Was that 4 wheel steering, and the first ones were a V12 engine. The insides looked perfect even for its age - might not enjoy the fuel consumption on the way home mind. Actually yeah, yes I would - special car.

This is the one I was thinking of. Saw it in the show arena. Said it was 9 litre and did 1 mpg. Obviously got better fuel economy for the rest of his journey home!

Hi Alex, no its a 840 so only marginally scary on the juice, but certainly a very nice example. 840 better balanced just as real world quick and less thirsty so would be the one to go for IMO. Quite a bit going off in August.

Ooh, my bad, I consider myself chastised ! Still a lovely car though . . .

There does seem a lot on except I've lost touch a bit. Must have another look at the calendar. And if ever you are Carding Shed bound (esp on a weekend!)

Okay, that one does look quite pretty (did?). . .

But in general - Americans ! Can drive moderately quickly in a straight line. Not too bad on a track providing they only have to turn the steering wheel in one direction . . .

Ouch ! Just alienated half the forumites . . .

AND, for those who are not on Facebook, I borrowed this which only goes to confirm my thoughts,

Massive stupid c**t that’s what he is !! This is my dads car which he lent to him for the day to take to the show with it being for a good cause as he couldn’t make it ! Absolutely no respect whatsoever towards my dads car at all ! Why on earth you would try that on a residential street with people walking by let alone someone else’s car ! Metal will fix but it could have been a hell of a lot worse and we are just thankful he didn’t injure anyone, we went and spoke to the owners of the house and gave them our details to sort whatever it is they need, and if you must know I gave the b*****d a few slaps afterwards too to show what a muggy stupid w****** he is

I think he got off lightly.
