Does removing power steering from a factory equipped car fail mot or illegal?

I had a road track toy mx5 , removed all pas and fitted manual rack if it's all standard swap you can't tell the difference so don't see why it would be illegal or mot fail. Never had mot trouble with it.

Would be fine for mot if power steering removed as long as ALL ! associated components removed.
Same for ABS ( up to 2010 ) can be removed as long as ALL components ( pump, module, wiring, sensor etc ) removed the only thing you get away with leaving is abs rings that are part of driveshaft and can't be removed.
(After 2010 it is illegal to remove Abs and associated components.)
Hope this helps
Stephen.

Yes but like I said you have to take out all the components ( so no lights on dash ) where the pump goes easiest idea I would have for that would be
Mk4 Vauxhall Astra came with or without ABS the pipes on non abs routed same way then where abs pump is there is a metal block the 2 pipes from master cylinder go in then 4 exit one to each wheel that would deal with pump then just a case of removing sensors and wiring and fuses relays etc
This is the section from the Mot manual related to this

Thanks again I would consider doing this as my abs and asc lights are on and the abs systems are pretty weak so delete is probably the way to go!

Certainly not impossible to do.
Easier with asc than Dsc due to less integration into the cars systems

Had a thought if you remove Ps and Abs that's 2 less things to drain down the battery packs on your Ev plus a couple of kilos weight loss as well win win all round :)
