Sitting on the fence Dave?

My view is, don’t care how much they earn as long as they pay their taxes and don’t send it off-shore. If they think he’s worth it good luck to him, ME???? I wouldn’t pay him more than £1000 a week or any other celebrity for that matter, but then I’m old school so think £1000 a week is certainly enough to get by on.!!!!!!! Or is it??????=))

Don't think Mr Bale will be paying much in UK taxes.

That was the main point of my post really, £1,000 a week is more than most people can hope to earn, certainly around here.

So, when you're earning hundreds of times that, you can pretty much buy anything you want, when you want. At what amount does the money become less important. I'm sure Mr Bale has enough money in the bank even at this point in time to live without worries for the rest of his life.

It would also be nice to see some of these high earning sports stars give something back to the grass roots like Scholes, Butt and Neville at Salford. A very small portion of their weekly income can make a massive difference to some smaller team or upcoming youngster.

If you were on minimum wage for a 40 hour week you'd earn in the region of £330. If you gave a tenner to charity that's 3% of your weekly income. Scale that up for Bale alleged new contract and that's £30,000 that he would probably spend on a watch to keep in a drawer!!

I think a high proportion of these high earning sports stars give millions away to individuals and groups as a collective, just not well advertised. All sorts of foundations are set up in there names that help raise cash and awareness of various plights.

Lifestyle is far more important than money; as long as you have sufficient income to support the lifestyle that makes you content that is enough. If he is going for the challenge, good on him. If he is going simply for the money, he won't be there long.:)
