Yes it needs a good strong pull. Probably best with the roof open and keep your chin out of line of fire as it comes off all of a rush when it comes free. Same to refit good solid push down and you will feel it clip in place.

Thats an auto one by the looks of .
Put slector in neutral ( then you wont punch the dash) push button in and pull should come off not too bad

The wood looks good
Got it on here from @spurs fan in a coupe came out a car with black dash but personally I think it sits far nicer with the biege dash the wooden hockey sticks either side are quite rare.
Also unlike my skoda its actually real wood rather than plastic.

When I got my Z I didn't know you could pull your knob off until I was giving it some hammer one day, I drop it a gear and the f***er came off in my hand and smacked me in the face.
