Just picked up a 2000 Z3 that has run into and over a few too many curbs I think. If there are/were attach points I’m thinking mine are all broken off. I don’t want to not have rock protection, so I am looking for a DIY mesh project or if I can use the plastic mesh OE grill, and attach with some other fastener, I would do that.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.

cheers

Hi Vic, when I got my Z3 3.0ltr the front lower grill was plastric of sorts fixd with cable ties, so when i was havinf the cills replaced and sprayed I asked the to see if they coulkd sort something out for the grill. They went across the road tol a metal yard and obtained a peice of S/S sheet used for bbqs with diamond shape holes and as most clips broken off they fixed it with a mastic (type ?) Hope that this helps but have a look on the forums FB page as I think that thewrer was one on there for sale. Geoff

I made my own, It floats in the hole on threaded rod located in the existing holes on bottom of the front bar, therefor is not subject to gutter bashes, within reason. fine mesh is fixed to the back of it. mainly because all of the fixing points were cactus, I did the fog lights later as well to finish the look...the lower bumper is still all primer grey...6 months later. I think someone ran over a cow with mine. Its 200% on what it was . You just cannot get parts here for any price that does not involve limbs or first born.. So, you make do.. I was a toolmaker / pattern maker / fitter / boilermaker, before retiring and becoming an old fart, so some advantage there I guess...If it's your thing too, It might be of interest...

I ordered a new bumper off of ebay and a new lower bumper grill, since I’m having the car repainted to original Topaz Blue. Previous owner had some s*** cheap paint job with overspray everywhere done. Looks ok from 50 feet away, but close up looks gastly.
