My question is if any one knows: -

Can a ticket be issued for not displaying a valid tax disc if parked on private ground/property?

I received a ticket the other day whilst parked in a short term airport car park, this is privately owned and operated. The ticket is a police fixed penalty ticket. £100.00 fine!

Any help appreciated.

This one could run for a while Brian - need the lawyers on it (which I'm not).

For ref see http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1994/22/section/33

Whereas it was not actually on a public road at the time, I think the argument will be it was not SORN'd so it has to be displayed.

Let the arguments commence;)

Thanks,

The ticket is being reviewed so fingers crossed. The vehicle was taxed just did not have the Tax disc from the DVLA before I went away. Irony is that in October they are being scrapped.

Have just read the background elsewhere - think you have a good case for mitigating circumstances. An answer to the legal point would be interesting though. Hope you enjoyed the hol despite the welcome home present.

Result, I had to email a copy of my tax disc to the central ticket office as proof I had a tax disc, they reviewed the case and cancelled the ticket. :)
