I want to upgrade this as one of my first jobs.. I see that there are kits where you dismantle the current one and rebuild with upgraded parts, and that there are ready upgraded ones which you just swap over.. being ham-fisted I think I would prefer to go with the latter.. any recommendations for suppliers and indication of costs?

It depends what engine you have.

I spent a long time looking for an M44 kit 2 years ago and they didn't exist then.

I'm not so sure there's not 2 different types between the M52/M54 and only one of them is rebuildable.

Someone makes a 3rd party part but personally I wouldn't bother.

These guys normally sell quality stuff.

And you get a good explanation and feeling from these guys. Who also mention the 3rd party manufacturers.

I used the i6 Automotive kit from Ebay for my E85, they do one for the Si, make them an offer about £5 below the ask and they will accept. Still cheaper than their website!

Took me about 20 mins to do mine, the bell crank/paddle interface had lots of play, so much so that it sounded like a diesel;

And after;
