Hi,

Just trying to establish some torque settings for the rear suspension rebuild I doing at the moment. The main one I am struggling with is the one for the nut that attached the rear carrier to the car that goes through the rubber bush - I have found two differing values.

The one on the torque bolt info sheet on this site would seem to suggest 140Nm, but I also have a workshop manual I purchased on eBay, that would suggest the torque value is only 77Nm. Does anyone know what is right?

I have attached snips of the two sources.

All other values are there about the same.

Many thanks for any help!

Been looking at bolt torques for a rear BBK I’m making…zinc coated bolts / nuts demand a lower torque due to the lubricant properties of the coating…maybe a cause for a discrepancy

Following a bit more digging and with the help of a couple of ex-BMW technicians I work with we have established the 140Nm value if the correct one. So much for my supposed BMW Z3 workshop manual. Having said that it only cost a fiver and been really useful on many other jobs!

When rebuilding the subframes and installing, this is what I do the diff bolt too.

Yes, very much! This is where I got the 140Nm value shown I'm my first post. Used it for a host of other tasks too.
