Different Car mat shapes?

Hi all,

I need to get some new car mats and had been looking at various online suppliers, that will make to measure, however, almost all have 2 alternative shaped mats, plus 1 with tspike clips - see silhouettes below

Given I don't have a mat currently, I am unsure which is the right shape - Is there anyway to tell? Are both compatible ( this site seems to suggest 3.0Litre is different, but other sites just refer to it as another variant )

Otherwise, I don't have the spike clips - can these be retrofitted easily?

Spike clips can be purchased and fitted easily. I like spike clips as they stop the mats creeping foreword.

The mats in my 3.0L Z3 look the same as the left and center set. I don't see the benefit of having a long tab that goes up behind the peddles, where your feet don't go.

The last set of mat's I purchased for a project car, where a cheap set of E-Bay. Had to cut the spike clip holes myself. Easily done.

The E-bay seller that I purchased the floor mat off is no longer on E-Bay.

Since I have a stone driveway I ordered weather tech rubber mats. They are form fitted to the car. They are the same color, just poor lighting for photos.
