Hi all
thought I'd give the car a run today as I haven't run it since bringing it home and the rev counter wouldn't work, was working fine when I last drove it, took if for a spin to check everything else and all the other dials in the binnacle were working fine, two hours later I'd thought I'd try again and maybe get lucky and the temp gauge has stopped working too  though it was working fine earlier. Speedo and as far as I can see the petrol gauge are OK.

Any ideas folks (try to keep them cheap ones please ;))

Thanks
N

Sometimes the ribbon cable gets damaged or loose on the back of the instrument bin. It's only a couple of screws to take apart and check the condition of the cable...

Would that not stop everything working? Excuse my ignorance never had one apart (yet)

It's a ribbon style cable, so not necessarily depending on which cores have been damaged.

T-tony did a write up on how to remove the cluster... https://zroadster.org/threads/instrument-cluster-removal.8397/

EDIT: Just checked the photos in the article and it's not a ribbon cable, just a clump of cables...

Have you stuck a code reader on it yet, I don't know what I am talking about, just a thought.

There are 3 multi plugs on the back from what I remember, maybe one of them is just loose. they have a lever on them to lock them in place but could have been out before and not installed correctly

Didn't Grumpy have a similar problem last year, think it turned out to be damp causing the fault
