Dedicated server for ZRoadster.org is on it's way!

This is fairly technical and for information only. You can skip it if you aren't interested, and I will announce when it's going to be changed over

Zorg currently sits on a "shared server", which literally means it shares the server with many other websites. In the next couple of days we are going to build Zorg a new dedicated server to live on.

We also have access to the latest high spec hardware in our UK data centre which we are itching to start using. Along with the implementation of a better caching system, this should give the site a decent speed boost.

The new server will also allow us to do some extra things in the background...

• Currently the site is backed up daily each night, and we will be moving to hourly backups of the SQL database.
• We will buy and install the Enhanced Search extension for the forum. This is designed to give significantly better search performance and additional search options. It also benefits from a very small 'stopword' list and no minimum word length, allowing nearly any search to return more meaningful results.

There will be some downtime to carry out the move to the new server once it's been built. I'll give you all plenty of advanced notice when this will be carried out though!
